Ghostly Cities, Asian Futurism? 本篇為「月兔之歌」2021年國立美術館亞洲雙年展論壇第三場「幽冥之域」(The Spectral Terrain)上所發表英文講稿的譯本。 首先,感謝策展人Thanavi Chotpradit的邀請,這次的雙年展中,我既不是策展人也不是參展藝術家,不過我在從事空間專業工作之餘,也有幾次參與藝術工作的經驗,今天我想利用這個機會,來談這些不同經驗的路徑是如何交會,希望對這一場的討論有所幫助。 本場次的主題「幽冥之域」,讓我聯想到兩種情境。第一種是一個超越人世的界境,這剛好也是我們參加2018年台北雙年展作品的主題-「植物眼中的台北」,在這件作品中,我們試圖想像一個後自然的未來景象,一個植物開始有視覺後的未來世界,透過植物的「眼睛」,來重新詮釋生態系統和人類體系也就是人類世界跟非人類領域之間的關連。當時我們邀請了十五位來自不同國家的學生來參與這個計畫,每位學生各自認養不同種類的植物,並將它擬人化,最後分別製作一支短片,紀錄這個植物眼中的臺北。

《作為隱喻的建築》推薦序 — 建築是一門歷史悠久的行業。自古以來,小至居所,大至城市,它的觸角無所不及。建築創作是藝術、也是技術,每一件建築作品往往代表一種理念與價值。而建築的營造更可能涉及了複雜的政治、社會與經濟的運作。 也難怪,建築經常被作為隱喻,從地基、樑柱、牆壁到屋瓦,每一個結構與部位均有其言詞與文化上的寓義。建築的形式與興衰,更往往被賦予多重的符號與想像。 在《作為隱喻的建築》一書中,柄谷行人將這個隱喻作為對西方哲學思想批判的濾鏡。從柏拉圖起始,以至近代後結構主義的論述,以建築作為隱喻的探索,讓我們重新認知西方哲學領域中世界觀的組織與建構,以及這些觀點如何反映在不同學科的論述,以及社會、政治與經濟的體制,甚至包括貨幣與信用等概念。 誠如作者所言:這不是一本有關狹義建築的書,它與鋼筋水泥的實體建築並沒有太直接的關係。不過這本書的起始與英文版的出版,確實有受到建築領域的影響。包括日本建築大師磯崎新對現代主義批判給予柄谷行人的啟發,而作者也在後期參與了ANY (Architecture New York) 這個組織的會議,讓他目睹了九〇年代紐約建築領域與哲學思想的互動。
